‘Girl Meets World’ season 3, episode 3 preview: ‘Girl Meets Jaxica’ and alter egos
Tonight marks the end of the “Girl Meets World” two-part premiere, and by the end of the episode, we should have a little bit of a better understanding as to how Riley, Maya, and the rest of the crew are starting to fit in to high school.
Yet, at the same time it is clear that there are many struggles ahead, especially when it comes to trying to figure out one’s identity. “Girl Meets Jaxica” will be putting some of that struggle front and center on Friday when Rowan Blanchard’s character tries to come up with a new and internet-based way in order to establish a personality, one that could be more appealing to her classmates. The synopsis below discusses that along with a key Auggie storyline:
“Riley creates an online alter-ego, Jexica, when she doesn’t feel confident that her new high school classmates will like the real her. Cory and Topanga struggle with Auggie’s internet usage.”
After looking at this, isn’t it clear that this is far from a story that could not be done in the age of “Boy Meets World” nearly as effectively, since these are issues impacting teens and also parents today. For example, many teens out there think that a great way to express their true selves is behind an internet persona online, not realizing the emotional ramifications of such a move to other people. Meanwhile, when it comes to Auggie it’s certainly understandable that Cory and Topanga would like to preserve his imagination. This is something that is a little more difficult to do courtesy of a web browser.
