‘The Bachelorette’ spotlight: Will Canadian Daniel Maguire impress JoJo Fletcher?
We want to make it clear that we are not trying to deliberately make “The Bachelorette” contestant Daniel Maguire’s Canadian heritage the primary point of interest in this spotlight article; the main thing here is that the show is doing that for us. In the press release that was sent out for the new season, he was listed as a “Canadian” rather than ABC sharing his real job. Thankfully, that’s corrected on his official bio — but we wonder if the show will be generalizing him completely when it premiers in one week’s time on May 23.
For more on our take on Daniel, take a look below.
Name – Daniel Maguire.
Age – 31
Occupation – Male model. Also, apparently “Canadian.” We’ve already went over that.
Location – Vancouver, British Columbia. Hey, it’s the home of Kaitlyn Bristowe! Canadians have been welcome on the show for some time, which is nice because few shows do celebrate them in America.
Pros – Obviously, he’s a good-looking guy, and being a Canadian always gives you an instant conversation-starter. That’s why we think so many of them do tend to at least make it past the first night. He’s also traveled extensively, which means that he will probably have a whole array of interesting stories at his disposal that other people may not have.
Cons – First, this from his bio when talking about tattoos: “No — same reason you don’t put stickers on a lambo.” Also, this when talking about if he’s comfortable in swimwear: “Why have a lambo if you park it in the garage?” Let’s hope that this is all tongue-in-cheek, since otherwise he and fellow contestant Chad this season really should be on a separate show where they just date themselves. We get that he’s good-looking; it’s his job to be! You don’t have to go full Zoolander.
Most likely to… Watch himself in the reflection of some of the cameras.
Final assessment – We think there’s a good chance that he makes it a couple of weeks, but typically with any model, you have to wonder why they are really on this show. He has to be somewhat reserved to avoid the “there for fame” stigma, and we don’t think “reserved” is in this guy’s vocabulary in the slightest.
