‘Game of Thrones’ season 6, episode 2 preview: The latest Kit Harington – Jon Snow questions

Game of thronesGoing into the season 6 premiere of “Game of Thrones” on Sunday, there was one question that we know everyone was curious to get an answer to: Is Jon Snow really dead? It’s interesting that following the events of the premiere, everyone has started to quiet down on that in one way or another.

Yet, at the same time, we’re really not all that sure the HBO series gave that much of an answer. Instead of seeing Kit Harington’s character carried off and placed in the ground, he was mostly just moved to another room. Basically, it was the network equivalent of having someone wait inside a room for the doctor to show up. We don’t see this as the end of the character; really, it’s a beginning for something more.

For one, Melisandre is still around, and while we haven’t learned much about her plans (though we certainly have her age), we have to imagine that there is something more to her visions. Maybe she needed some time in order regroup? She did after all totally blow it when it came to Shireen; or, maybe it’s possible that she needs something in order for a resurrection to happen that has not been made available to her just yet.

One other thing that the premiere may have taught her, and also us as viewers, is that there is still a contingent of people loyal to Jon’s cause. These are people who could rally behind him, no matter what form he took. Sure, the Night’s Watch in its entirety may not follow him, but we’d imagine that sort of spiritual resurrection could inspire even more to follow him almost as though it was ordained by a higher power.

While not every character within this world may realize it right now, Jon Snow is essential to the north having any hope against the White Walkers. One of the only ways to properly fight them is by working with the Wildlings and uniting all forces; who else is there out there capable of such a move? We’re not sure if an answer is coming Sunday night or down the road, but we are still more convinced than ever that Jon’s story is far from over.
