‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 21 review: Leonard vs. Sheldon; Stuart as Jon Snow
Given where we are right now in the season on “The Big Bang Theory,” we do have to admit that we were expecting something a little bit more substantial than what we had Thursday night. While there were some funny moments, there were elements of the episode that felt repetitive. Not only that, but there were also some moments that we felt were a little out of character for this gang.
Remember the idea of nerds supporting other nerds? There’s nothing more nerdy than wearing a cheap costume of a popular character, and that’s what Stuart did as Jon Snow for the group’s “Game of Thrones” watching party. Yet, most of the episode (especially near the end) was spent making fun of him for it. It was definitely strange, and not necessarily what we expected from the show in terms of comedy.
As for some other issues, how many times have we had a chance to see a conflict over the roommate agreement? Also, how many times are we going to see Howard have an allergic reaction?
Strangely, the smartest thing that we think the show did is probably also the most polarizing part of the episode: Seeing Raj obsess and make Howard jealous over dating multiple women at the same time. It’s obvious that this is going to blow up in his face in ridiculous fashion, but at the same time it was completely believable that Raj would act so nuts and full of himself over this. It’s completely believable for what we would expect from a guy like him with almost no experience with women. Sadly, it does not quite save what we thought was a weaker episode. Grade: C+.
