‘Fear the Walking Dead’ season 2, episode 2 ratings: A new series low
While the Abigail on “Fear the Walking Dead” season 2 is not necessarily sinking at present, it’s becoming more and more clear that the show is treading water more than it has in the past.
We may not do specific ratings reports on the AMC show throughout the second season, but to us there was something interesting about this episode in particular. We were following up a premiere, and those episodes tend to have inflated episodes. Also, buzz around season 2 has not been tremendous, and with “Game of Thrones” looming on the horizon, we wanted to see how the last episode before its premiere would fare in the 18-49 demographic.
Overall, the results are mixed. This episode Sunday drew a 2.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is still enough easily to make this the #1 regularly-scheduled show on the night in the measure. Yet, this is also the smallest rating for the show to date, and by a pretty good margin. This series was never the monster of “The Walking Dead,” but it was good at keeping some of its core audience around.
Now, we have the “Game of Thrones” challenge. The show has already been renewed for a third season, so there’s no real reason to worry about its fate from that vantage point. However, we still want to see the show do well! Our feeling is that so long as it draws a 2.0 rating, there’ll be a reason for AMC to celebrate given our sentiment that the two shows do share an audience. With that said, there’s more of an incentive for viewers to watch “Thrones” live. It’s a show that may be spoiled quicker for fans who don’t watch live, and they can always DVR “Fear the Walking Dead” and skip over its commercial breaks.

It’s simple: the show only has one character that is interesting, and that is Strand, the guy who is still a lesser character working in the shadows. Madison is dumber than ever (trying to take children away from a survivalist family in broad daylight), and Travis has done hardly anything in Season 2 except try to keep his awful son in line. Daniel was interesting in Season 1, but he spilled most of his backstory already and now he’s not doing much except maybe drawing more attention to Strand. Almost EVERYBODY who posts on these threads want to see the obvious criminal, Strand, win and couldn’t care less at this point how many of the “family” people bite the dust.

How is it then that the Huff Post is reported the shows been picked up for a season 3 and the rating went up last week?
