‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ season 6 finale review: Yolanda Hadid, Lisa Rinna’s never-ending story
No matter how long this season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” lasted, one thing remained the same: Almost all of it would be spent discussing whether or not Yolanda Hadid actually has an illness. We’ve never doubted her, but at the same time plenty of other people have and this has made this season as a whole insufferable at times.
Even when we finally flashed forward a couple of months in the final scene, what did we get? First, it was Yolanda talking about her divorce and how she’s trying to move on; then, it was Lisa Rinna speculating in a confessional whether or not the stress of the marriage was producing the symptoms. Please, is there a way to make it stop? The thing that makes this worse is that in between this and accusations of Lisa Vanderpump being a liar being made by some of the other Housewives, we feel like we’ve already figured out what a good two thirds of the reunion will be about.
Also, did we mention there was a brief scene with Rinna and Kim Richards hashing out their problems from last season, but not having it really go anywhere?
Our heart goes out to Yolanda, though at the same time we really hope that there is a different constitution of either people around her or ideas for season 7. While we’re not sure that we’d call this the worst season ever for any version of “The Real Housewives” franchise, it definitely was one of the most lacking when it comes to real content. Most of it was spent listening to different women named Lisa gossiping, and then fighting off accusations that they were gossiping. Where was the fun aside from a few scenes here or there? Where was the opulence? Can we get more reminders as to how rich Erika Girardi is?
We’re not saying that the show needs to be hunky-dory or that we need a false depiction of real life, but this finale was in many ways a reflection of the past couple of months: Not enough variety, and really not enough of the Beverly Hills identity, either. Grade: C-.
