‘Dancing with the Stars 22’ results: Was Marla Maples, Kim Fields, or Jodie Sweetin eliminated?

DWTS -

When Doug Flutie was declared safe fairly early on during Monday’s “Dancing with the Stars” episode, we were surprised. Yet, at the same time, he’s always been an underdog and people love to root for the underdog.

What this move really did was it created some more uncertainty for the elimination at the end. We were concerned almost throughout that we were going to see the end of the road for Marla Maples, who has a seemingly smaller fan base than some other people this season. Also, Jodie Sweetin was in jeopardy the previous week. Was that some sort of fluke?

In the end, it was Marla who went home, and you really gotta give both her and Tony Dovolani some credit for being so kind and positive after being given the axe. What was surprising was that Jodie was once again in a little bit of jeopardy, which does make us think that she is in real danger since we don’t think that producers would just be tricking her for the sake of doing so for two straight episodes.

As for the rest of the field, we’d say that Doug could be joining Jodie in the danger zone next week after getting some of the lowest scores of the night … and also going early during the show. The latter is often a kiss of death with this franchise, and it really doesn’t matter who you are or where you finish. We’ll see if that holds, but for now one final goodbye to Marla, who seemed to have had a good time and was giving some solid performances on the show. She has nothing to be sad about.
