‘American Idol 15’ results: Was Sonika Vaid or Tristan McIntosh eliminated?

If there is one simple word that we would use to describe the elimination on “American Idol” Thursday night, it would definitely be “predictable.” Just remember for a minute here who we are talking about here in show voters. They often tend to favor the men over the women other than in season 13, and we therefore weren’t surprised to learn that the final decision for the judges was between Sonika Vaid and Tristan McIntosh.

Was this the right final two? Probably not. We’ve never been an enormous fan of Tristan’s over the course of the season, but Sonika has shown a lot of promise at times, and has especially performed better than Dalton Rapattoni as of late. Yet, we’re not the one making the decision … though ironically, neither is America really since the judges had their say.

We would have pegged almost immediately that Tristan would be the one saved here, given that in-house mentor Scott Borchetta has been especially high on her and the show loves having that country contestant. Plus, Keith Urban’s on the panel!

Well, we are certainly glad that we are wrong sometimes, and we were definitely wrong here given that in the end, the judges decided that they were better off moving forward with Sonika in the competition. This interests us since she does have so much potential, but she’s going to have an uphill battle now trying to crack into the top 4 given that she has shown two straight weeks of being in jeopardy.
