‘Gotham’ season 2, episode 14 preview: The hunt for Matches Malone

While there are going to be a wide variety of different stories that will be interesting to see on “Gotham” season 2 next week, there is one in particular that is critical for all fans of Bruce Wayne: The search for Matches Malone, who Alfred revealed tonight may be the man responsible for killing Bruce’s parents. He wants revenge, but if he finds him, he has to make sure to adhere to the deal: If anyone kills them, it will be Alfred. Bruce cannot have that on his conscience.

Yes, we are surprised the killing is on the table to begin with, given that these are supposed to be the good guys. “The Ball of Mud and Meanness” is the title for this installment, and the synopsis is below:

“Alfred and Selina help Bruce on his quest to find his parents’ killer, Matches Malone (guest star Michael Bowen). Meanwhile, Gordon follows up with Edward Nygma on Kristen Kringle’s whereabouts and Hugo Strange (guest star BD Wong) continues his treatment to reduce Penguin’s aggression.”

Aside from Bruce, is this finally going to be the episode where Nygma reveals himself to be something other than a quirky / weird lab guy? Time will tell. The biggest thing that we can hope for is merely that the show continues to cultivate all of its stories, and that includes making Hugo Strange into one of its more fascinating villains. In the end, we’ll just have to see what unfolds … but we’re certainly excited for the time being.
