‘American Idol 15’ rankings: Where Trent Harmon, MacKenzie Bourg, La’Porsha Renae stand in top 14

American Idol -Excited to see where everything goes on “American Idol” this week? We certainly are, since this week will eventually mark the first opportunity all season long for the public to vote? The judges will be picking some of their favorites, but then it’ll be up to America to determine the final people who will be advancing to the next episode of the show. It’s going to be an eventful, exciting few days coming up, but before we begin, let’s go ahead and kick off the first chapter of our show contestant rankings!

If you’re new to the site, then know that we are basing these rankings on a few different factors: Performance quality, air time, edit, and of course past voting trends by the American public. These often show you who has an inherent advantage.

14. Gianna Isabella – While she does have a connection to stardom courtesy of her mother, we don’t get the sense that will help her with America. She’s been inconsistent, and the reality is from past seasons that women often struggle to get votes in the early going.

13. Thomas Stringfellow – We can go either way on Thomas. While we think there’s a lot of work to be done here vocally (too many affectations), we could be really off-base with his fan following. Some younger viewers out there could pick him for the same reason Daniel Seavey lasted for a long time.

12. Tristan McIntosh – What Tristan has going for her are country fans; however, we don’t think that she pops too much in the sea of contestants this season, and also has delivered some inconsistent performances.

11. Lee Jean – He’s very likable, but the reality is that he’s also a little bit forgettable. In coming up with this article, we almost forgot that he was someone who we needed to include. That doesn’t bode too well.

10. Jenn Blosil – She’s super-quirky and interesting, but sometimes that doesn’t always gel with voters. Also, she’s coming off of some of her weaker performances we’ve seen from her, so she needs to work her way back up the rankings again.

9. Avalon Young – If this was our own personal rankings, we’d put Avalon in the top 5. Vocally and creatively, everything’s there. We’re just not sure she’s got the same edit to the point she is a fleshed-out person on this season compared to some other singers.

8. Olivia Rox – We haven’t loved everything that Olivia has done this season, but our feeling is that the stuff that she’s done that has been great has been really great. It’s nice to have someone on this season with that sort of tremendous upside.

7. Dalton Rapattoni – It feels like the viewers and the judges are a little bit higher on Dalton than we are, and we have to consider their input here to a certain extent. He’s someone to watch, since he could either go out early or last a long time.

6. Jeneve Rose Mitchell – We think she’s got an interesting voice, and to go along with that, she sings music that has a ton of Americana appeal. Her background and her story are so unique from the other contestants that she has a shot at being memorable.

5. Sonika Vaid – To us, she’s one of the artists this season with a real chance of a mainstream career. Great voice, likable personality, and someone who can sing just about anything put before her. She’ll need to make good choices with music to win, but we’re giving her a chance.

4. Manny Torres – He’s a dude with a guitar and a raspy voice (always a crowd-pleaser on this show), and he’s also got a lot of momentum that started back when he was the very last person to audition for the show.

3. MacKenzie Bourg – He’s super-artistic, and people often go for the unique arrangements. With that said, we also know that out of anyone left, he probably has the largest built-in fan base thanks to “The Voice.” That won’t help him win, but it could get him past the next couple of weeks.

2. La’Porsha Renae – We think that Renae is probably the strongest overall singer this season, but will she be able to unseat the recent tradition of men getting the majority of the votes? The only season without a male winner is season 12, and you can certainly argue that the show really did all they could that season to make the ladies shine.

1. Trent Harmon – To us, Trent is really the total package: He’s a likable guy from a small town (always an “Idol” plus), and he performs music that the majority of viewers will be able to relate to. Also, he got a tone of airtime through Hollywood Week thanks to his mono, so he’s someone who is super-memorable.
