‘Billions’ episode 7 preview: Damian Lewis’ Axe faces the pressure

Tonight on Showtime’s “Billions,” we saw at least one opportunity for Damian Lewis’ character of Bobby Axelrod to crawl away from Chuck Rhoades and his investigation with some minor scrapes. He could have relented to a certain extent and avoided jail time.

However, if there is one thing that we have come to know about this character over the past six episodes, it is this: He’s a proud man. In many ways, Wendy wanted to make all of this go away especially, knowing the problems that it would create for her, let alone everyone close to her. She wanted a settlement to happen, but it didn’t. Axe wants to make sure that he is a complete winner, and not just someone mired in a gray area. Or, at least he wants a family office.

The promo HERE gives you a great bit of insight into everything that is coming up on the series; if that’s not enough for you, then maybe the small synopsis will suffice: “The pressure starts to affect Axe. Chuck uses the past to his advantage.”

Given where we are on the show right now, the one thing we know for certain is that we’re probably at a stronger position creatively than we’ve ever been to date. While the show got off to a fairly slow start, it has since become so much more layered and complex; also, we’ve had a few funny moments in here, which we think are necessary to keep this show from becoming completely and utterly dry.
