‘Survivor: Kaoh Rong’ episode 2 review: Debbie tries juggling; Tai’s big ‘move’

Debbie -

The premiere episode of “Survivor: Kaoh Rong” was really not one dominated by strategy so much as it was one filled with tough conditions, weird moves, and a vote-off we don’t really understand. We’re going to miss Darnell, even if we are thrilled to be speaking to him in an exit interview tomorrow!

So what’s happening next week? It’s funny that for a season that was hyped up for being so physically taxing on the players, we ended up having a preview that was more based around humor. Debbie, for example, is trying to entertain with her juggling and her stories, and is in some ways actually living up to her self-proclaimed status as the female version of Coach. It’s pretty out-there, but it’ll be sad if she goes anytime soon because she’s bringing something different to the table.

Meanwhile, the same goes for Tai Trang, who seemed to at least make Beast Mode Cowboy think he was about to kiss him. It’s another funny little moment from a guy we found extremely likable and entertaining in the first episode … and also someone who really needs to turn on the charm now thanks to him looking around for an immunity idol too much the first week. (Save Tai, everyone! He was our preseason pick to win!)

Even though we didn’t think that this was an incredible premiere episode other than the strange tie vote, we’re still really stoked about the rest of the season. We’re already getting a little bit of a Gabon vibe here, which is great for us since we love that season from a character standpoint. We love big moves and smart thinking, but we also just like watching interesting people. If we get both, then obviously we’ll be thrilled.
