ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5, episode 11 preview: The story for Kerry Washington, Bellamy Young in ‘The Candidate’
“Scandal” returned after a significant amount of time off with an episode Thursday night that jumped forward several months, focused on some friendship, and also featured Olivia Pope back trying to handle at least some situations. Oh, and Mellie also sought Olivia out in order to get some help on her impending election for President.
So where is this story going to go in next week’s “The Candidate”? Well, let’s just say that Bellamy Young’s character is not the only one who will be front and center in a story that is all about politics. The synopsis below does ultimately a very good job at spelling out what lies ahead:
“Mellie seeks out Olivia’s help but may not be prepared for what that entails, and Liz tries to convince Susan Ross to run for the presidency. Meanwhile, Abby and Cyrus are at odds when a profile piece on Fitz comes into question.”
The biggest thing that we have to hope for is that Olivia and Mellie keep each other in the same world, mostly because by and large, things are so much more interesting and dramatic when these two have a chance to collide. Is it good for either one of them as people? Well, you can argue that this is up for debate.
Elsewhere, one thing that we do want some more evidence of is where this story is going now for Jake. We know that he has so much more power than he has before on the show, but what will some of this power end up leading to?
