‘The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story’ episode 3 preview: Marcia Clark builds her case

Marcia -

Tonight on “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story,” we saw what was effectively the end of the manhunt for OJ Simpson. The White Bronco chase was over as soon as he returned to Brentwood, and after a stand-off, the police were able to take him into custody.

So where do we go from here? Ultimately, this is just the beginning of what is sure to be an epic battle between sides as we get closer and closer to the trial beginning. Marcia Clark will start to build her case, while Robert Shapiro does what he can in order to convince Simpson to look into bringing Johnnie Cochran on board. He is one of the men who has the skills to win his case, regardless of his innocence.

The synopsis below spells many of these details out further:

“Marcia Clark (Sarah Paulson) announces that O.J. Simpson (Cuba Gooding Jr.) has been charged. Robert Shapiro (John Travolta) seeks advice from F. Lee Bailey (Nathan Lane) and comes up with a provocative strategy. As Shapiro starts putting together “The Dream Team”, he must convince O.J. to hire Johnnie Cochran (Courtney B. Vance).”

There are so many different (and fascinating) ways to look at everything that is coming up the rest of the season. It’s a battle of resources against government funds, of celebrity versus anonymity, of at times even a jury versus facts. Clark has to build a case against Simpson so powerful to remove the stars from the eyes of many; while we know she will be unsuccessful, the journey is still of interest.
