‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: How Hugo Strange’s story will factor in

Gotham -The second season of “Gotham” paraded a lot of villains through the past ten episodes or so. We saw the shocking conclusion of the Jerome story, and then also the rise and fall of a powerful man in Theo Galavan, who appears to be dead … at least for now.

It seems strange to use those particular words given that this series has been painted with a somewhat-realistic brush, but at the same time, there has certainly suspicion thanks to Indian Hill and the work of Hugo Strange there that he could figure out a way to get some of these people a second life. B.D. Wong plays this iconic Batman character, and executive producer Bruno Heller tells TV Guide that this is not a man who even considers himself a villain at all:

“He’s very much not a ‘mwa-ha-ha’ villain … He is a man filled with the joys of science. He doesn’t think of himself in any way as a bad person. He is the essence of scientific progress and the joy of hope for the future that science promises. He shows us how even that sensibility can be warped into something evil if wrongly used.”

Strange is one of many interesting threats facing Jim Gordon and the GCPD. We’re also going to be getting the origin story for Victor Fries in the second half of the season, which Heller says is largely about love first and foremost. It is only as a result of this tragic story that Mr. Freeze is eventually born, and starts to be a problem for everyone within the city and beyond.
