ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: First details on Stana Katic – Nathan Fillion story in ‘Tone Death’
We’ve waited a long time to see some more details on “Castle” season 8, and today ABC finally lifted the veil on “Tone Death.” (There was some confusion as to if the name was “Tone Dead” or Tone Death,” but the latter is the official name.)
As you may have known based on other recent promos and teasers, the main focus of this story will be about the competitive-singing world; the official synopsis now makes it clear that Martha’s latest production may be involved in it all:
“When a body is found in the theater of Martha’s latest show, Castle and Beckett’s investigation leads them into the unexpectedly dangerous world of competitive a capella.”
The great news is that based on this synopsis, Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic are going to have more time together onscreen than they had during the majority of the first half of the season, but we figure that this could continue to be a delicate balance for them. After all, think about the story this way: They are pretending to be still separated, even though they are now together again and romantic in private. Are they going to be able to keep this secret just that? That’s something that will be very interesting to figure out over the course of the weeks ahead. We can’t imagine that the secret will come out in just one episode, but crazier things have happened.
Now that “Castle” is a mere couple of weeks away from returning, you better believe that we’re going to have some further information soon. Stay tuned!

IMO the face slap shown in the promo, whether pretend or not, is still out of character for Kate and is most certainly not something a person in “Captain” Beckett’s position would ever do in front of her subordinates. Its like, Ryan discharging his fire arm at an unseen target was also out of character too, yet intended as humour. This is no longer the clever humour that made the show so great. Instead we seem to have devolved into slapstick comedy remeniscent of the Three Stooges or the Keystone Cops. Perhaps the next trailer for Tone Death will show Castle getting even by giving Kate the ol’ two fingered eye poke or mallet bonk on her head. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk.

Lets hope it comes out quickly. The slapping, cruel looks from Espo and Ryan and being mean to each other, even if pretending, doesnt sound “fun”. Remember when Rick and Kate were tender with each other, even in the midst of their worst angst? Those days are gone for cheap laughs. Not laughing. There used to be smart humor in this show, not soapy camp.

I agree Vikki. I believe that much of the problem with getting and keeping fans is the long inane story lines. There were two to begin with – the murder of Beckett’s mother and the Caskett romance. But they were kept alive and current by frequent action almost on an episode by episode basis. Then the whole thing fell apart with the delayed marriage disappointment and the long story line of Castle’s disappearance which went without mention for a year. As Nathan said in regard to the wedding – just do it, people get tired and bored in the waiting. Then we had 3xk with a 4 year wait between associated episodes and now LokSat to take a year and , supposedly, bring life back to Castle’s disappearance. Inane!

“We can’ t believe it would come out in just one episode”. I certainly hope it comes out in one episode because 8 episodes have already been wasted on LokSat with the results only representative of one detective working one day. The shipment of drugs was so big and heavy that it could have only come as bulk cargo in which case it would have come aboard as food supplies and left as garbage because they receive very little inspection. How do you pick up and deliver the drugs? By garbage truck of course. Elapsed time – about one day or less.

Buddy you are correct, but that is to eady and has to much common sense for the writers. It appears they think the show can continue with out the stars ,they are considering replacing them if they do not sign for season 9 extremely bad move.
