‘Criminal Minds’ season 11 spoilers: Could Aubrey Plaza return as Cat Adams?
The eleventh season of “Criminal Minds” has to us had a wide array of memorable stories, but none tops the list quite like the midseason premiere “Entropy.” This was the first chance that we had to get to know Aubrey Plaza’s character of Cat Adams, a pretty ruthless killer but also a fascinating one. In between her and Matthew Gray Gubler’s performances, we had a rare chance to really get a window into the soul of two people. It was a game of cat-and-house, and one that eventually Reid was able to win. However, it didn’t exactly happen as he first assumed that it would.
So could Plaza eventually return as the character? While we’re never quite sure how serious to interpret some of her quotes, we do like almost everything that she said to TVLine recently:
“For me, it was a love story … And I don’t think it’s over. I think you’re going to see Spencer visiting me in jail, Hannibal Lecter style. I can’t speak for the writers or the producers, but I told them that this is not over. These people are soul mates.”
The Hannibal comparison is a good one in the sense that Will Graham and Dr. Lecter were not lovers per se, but there was a certain part of each other that had that sort of respect and affection within them. Part of why Reid was able to figure out Cat was because he had some of those same fears and pain himself. That’s what makes her a compelling villain in the same way he is a compelling hero, and provided she wants to return someday, we could see a variety of interesting ways to further use her and play off of this dynamic.
