‘How to Get Away with Murder’ season 2 promo hypes up surprises, surprises, and more surprises

We will spend at least the first couple of paragraphs airing out our grievances about ABC’s marketing strategy about “How to Get Away with Murder,” as evidenced by the latest promo below. To get into more plot-related matters, skip to around paragraph #4 of this story.

Still here? Well, let’s talk about what continues to feel like a misguided attempt to water down the show to be all about the “OMG” moments when it is so much more than that. As it is, sometimes there are too many twists for the viewers’ own good, since it runs the risk of throwing logic out the window and making you think that plot no longer matters. Also, what happens if there are so many twists and shockers that they become the norm?

Where this show signs the most are in the performances. The best moments from Viola Davis on this series come when she is in a scene alone with one or two other people, and they are rarely the ones that contain someone dying / exhibiting some strange behavior that is not following along their traditional pattern.

Anyway, the final episodes of this season are going to take place following Annalise Keating being shot, and many characters are going to have to piece together their new normal where they may not want to work for her anymore, and Wes has to figure out what the connection is between his teacher and his past, and how she came to learn his true name.
