‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ episode 9 sets another ratings low
One thing is seemingly not changing for “American Horror Story: Hotel” no matter what the show decides to do: Fewer and fewer people are watching every week.
One day before the show was somewhat-surprisingly nominated for a Golden Globe for Limited Series / TV Movie (this season has not been the best), the episode entitled “She Wants Revenge” drew just a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This tied the show with the (disappointing) finale of “South Park” for the #1 cable show of the night, and in a vacuum that is probably good. The issue is that we know from past seasons that the ratings are typically better than this by around the time we get to this point.
At this point last year on “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” the series drew a 1.5 rating in the demo; meanwhile, for the season before subtitled “Coven,” the show had a stunning 2.2 rating. Both of these shows did not start with particularly higher ratings, but they did a much better job of keeping viewers around.
Awards and nominations are nice, but sometimes the viewer retention of your show during a season is something that really determines what the quality of your show is more than anything else. If you’ve lost more than 60% of your audience before you even get to the winter finale, there is something that you have done wrong. It’s not just people watching live once and then recording the rest, even though we’re certainly sure that there are people who are doing this.

Norman you are hot!!! I watch every single episode and GAGA can act. In episode one, the acting is not as good but watch her in later episodes. If she can’t act, hollywood foreign press won’t acknowledge her.
This will make you smile. I heard that she might win Golden Globe!!! That would be awesome if it is true. Let’s hope so.

How do they monitor ratings nowadays with DVR and on-demand? We watch the show weekly, but usually do so Friday night, on-demand, after our one year has gone to bed. With busy schedules and a busy child, 10PM on a Wednesday is not an hour we see much of anymore.

Well if ratings is low, no worries. The show is still is tremendous, otherwise Golden Globe will not acknowledge the show. Kudos also for GAGA for her first nomination for acting.
In my opinion, people don’t watch because they can’t follow or fathom the plot. The actors are all really good. Too bad for people who don’t watch this show.

haha-no-that’s not how Golden Globes work. Gaga was stunt casting-she has no talent and almost every reviewer said so. The foreign press is just awed by her rock star status. The show is not hard to follow-the lack of complexity is what kills it

She can act and that’s how she portrays as the Countess. AHS hotel is a great show. Bates, Bentley and Paulsen are nominated for Critics choice award for acting so the show has credibility.
GAGA is talented. Many people enjoyed watching her in this show, but they are not online to support this, because they don’t have to, even though I wish they would.

dude-she cannot act-all reviews say so. Have you even watched it? Every line is monotone and just sits there like a big crap. GG gave Pia Zadora a trophy-thas proves its all just a stunt! It has ZERO credibility-did you see the butt rape of that guy with the drill? Did you notice its just gay porn for Murphy? The first show showed THREE guy’s butts for NO reason!
