‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7, episode 9 preview: The winter finale and Stefan, Damon conflict
“The Vampire Diaries” has had something of a renaissance through out its seventh season so far. We’ve gotten a chance to see some excellent new character stories, and to go along with that, there have also been some surprises and the flash-forward narrative device has worked for the most part better than we thought it would. We’re now more curious than ever to see how some of these characters are going to ring in the holiday season.
The winter / midseason finale for the series is entitled “Cold As Ice,” and you don’t have to wait any longer to see the official synopsis:
“With the holidays in full swing, a search for Julian leads Damon and Stefan to a small town outside of Mystic Falls. While managing a holiday toy drive at Whitmore College, Bonnie (Kat Graham) seeks help from Nora (guest star Scarlett Byrne) and the two strike up an unlikely friendship. Elsewhere, Caroline (Candice King) does her best to navigate her new life as a pregnant vampire, while Alaric (Matt Davis) grows concerned that the pregnancy is effecting her more than she’s letting on. Finally, after finding himself at odds with Damon, Stefan is forced to take matters into his own hands, setting off a tragic chain of events that leaves their lives changed forever.”
If we were to focus primarily here on the Caroline pregnancy, one thing to remember here is that in the future she and Alaric become engaged. Caroline warned Stefan that things were going to be getting “really weird” soon in the middle of her pregnancy, so doesn’t the time seem right for some of this to start unraveling?
Of course, figuring out what the show does following the Lily shocker is something else entirely.
