‘Bones’ season 11: Could David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel joining suit impact show’s future?
There have been some rather hefty headlines related to “Bones” over the course of the past several episodes, but unfortunately, none of them are really positive for the show.
Following a recent lawsuit filed by a producer named Barry Josephson on the show, The Hollywood Reporter claims that David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel have joined author / executive producer Kathy Reichs claiming that they have been deprived of “tens of millions of dollars” from 20th Century Fox for the long-running procedural. We’re not going to get into the legal specifics here, but there claims involve not receiving the funds they believe to be entitled to from a variety of different channels.
What we are left to wonder for the time being is this: What sort of long-term impact does this suit have ultimately on the show itself? At the moment, we’d say not much given that the show’s fate likely seems set in stone already: Season 11 could be the final season, and if not, season 12 likely is. We don’t see the network punishing viewers for matters that are happening behind the scenes. The reality here is that the ratings haven’t been great for the series in quite some time, even if the show does make money in other venues such as syndication.
In regards to the money, shouldn’t everyone get a equal share of the pie here if a product is making a ton of money? We’ve never really understood some of the complaints about TV star salaries for that reason, provided that the market is dictating it.
