Looking at the latest ‘Supergirl’ – ‘The Flash’ crossover rumor
Before we proceed with this article, we should make one thing really clear (if you missed it in the title): This is a rumor. Therefore, don’t be surprised if this ends up not happening … and we’ll get into the further reasons why in a minute.
Let’s start with what we’ve heard. According to a Bleeding Cool source, there is an idea in place to have “Supergirl” and “The Flash” collide in a May sweeps episode, provided that the Melissa Benoist series receives a pickup for a back nine episodes. At the moment, that is not confirmed, and we’re not sure just yet what the plan is for CBS. While “Supergirl” premiered to big expectations and solid ratings, it has since lost half of its 18-49 demo audience in just five episodes. That puts it much more on the bubble; as a matter of fact, its most-recent rating is now rather similar to what “The Flash” gets on The CW.
Provided this actually happens, we’d be excited about it just because of the fact that these shows have a similar tone, and a team-up would be really fun and very popular. With that being said, here’s a logical question that should be pondered: Is it really possible for such a thing to be possible? In the world of “Supergirl,” Superman has already been around for years in Metropolis, so the people know that such things as superpowers are possible. However, everyone on “Arrow” and “The Flash” were stunned to learn that powers could exist in their world. Why wouldn’t they have mentioned this?
Personally, we see the odds of this as pretty unlikely, but it is something to keep watch on over the coming weeks if the “Supergirl” ratings fall but CBS still makes a commitment to making the show a success.

I smell click bait…but whatever….
Warner Bros. would probably LOVE the idea, but CBS would have to eat crow if they had to pull off a ratings stunt after pushing the Supergirl show to the moon only to have it drop so far after only a few weeks.
As for the story itself, I really don’t see the big deal. Different Earths are already part of the Flash canon. Just add another Earth to the list with Supergirl in it. Earth 1 Earth 2, Earth 3…or “S” as the case may be. Simple.
Of course, having these different Earth’s around they could set up a story that introduces a threat to these Earths. A crisis, if you will. I seem to recall a certain comic miniseries that had a story like that. And a couple of well established DC characters were killed off in it, too. Slips my mind for the moment which ones they were. Oh well, I’m sure it’ll come to me.
