‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 poster: We know something, Jon Snow

Jon -HBO is being tricky, tricky when it comes to “Game of Thrones” season 6, and the first poster that the network has put out there wastes no time at all addressing the White Walker in the room: The status of Jon Snow. Clearly, the show wants you to be very conscious of the fact that the character may or may not be still breathing, since otherwise they wouldn’t jam him front and center.

If you really want to get in-depth when it comes to the status of Jon, this poster to us feels like a pretty clear indicator that he is still alive … or that he is undead … or that something crazy has happened to him. The coat he is wearing here is not the same outfit he was seen wearing during the infamous death scene at the end of season 5, and the eyes are deliberately kept outside of view. Is this because something crazy has happened to them?

Our prevailing theory for some time with Jon is that the show is interested in giving him almost the same treatment as Stoneheart had in the books, at least in that a revived Jon would be very different from the version of Kit Harington’s character we once knew. He may be willing to do many brutal things that the original Jon was not, and there are key decisions that need to be made given the fact that the White Walkers are coming, and there is still the petty battling back and forth over the Iron Throne.

Sure, season 6 is still a long ways away, but we are ultimately glad to see that the show is at least returning in April. Given the later premiere date for “Girls,” we were wondering if that was going to be the case anymore.
