‘Dancing with the Stars 21’ spoilers: The plan for Alek Skarlatos, Bindi Irwin, top 4
There are four contestants remaining on “Dancing with the Stars” going into Monday’s semifinals, and there is more pressure on the contestants than ever before. Why is that? We’ll let ABC’s official release make that clear:
“For the first time in “Dancing with the Stars” history, the couples have to dance three dances in the semi-finals: a dance style not yet danced, a trio, and a dance-off challenge, which is a recent edition. For the trio dance, couples picked a dancer to enhance their performance and highlight the strengths of each star. Peta Murgatroyd returns to the Ballroom this season to dance with Nick and Sharna; Karina Smirnoff will dance with Carlos and Witney; Bindi and Derek chose Mark Ballas to be in their trio; and Emma Slater will dance with Alek and Lindsay. For the dance-off challenge, Nick and Bindi will compete against each other, dancing a samba, and Alek and Carlos will face-off, dancing a cha cha. The judges will score the dances, and each couple that wins the dance-off challenge will be awarded three additional points.”
One little thing we should note here is that it is not confirmed 100% that Mark will be dancing, as Derek Hough said in his TV Guide blog that he suffered a foot injury during the week that may be causing him problems. The good news is that it’s nice to see Peta is recovered enough from an injury in order to perform, and that all of the remaining Stars seem to be in good enough shape to be able to go out there and take on the challenge of doing three routines in a single week.
We will get to our contestant rankings on Sunday, but for now we would say that Nick and Bindi are the two most likely have a ticket punched for the finale.

I do question the pairing for the dance off this coming week. If you look at the overall scoring, Bindi and Nick would have the highest scores of those remaining. Why put them head to head in the semi final. I like all four of the semi finalists, but it seems like there should be some kind of system for pairing other than random.

I don’t think it was the shows call to make whether or not Tamar danced last week. It should have been a medical decision. I don’t think she was at all forced or coerced into dancing while she was ill. It is a grueling, physical sport. It does seem she was doing quite a bit outside of DWTS. I think peoples should only compete if they have the time to dedicate to it fully. Not to say that would have prevented Tamar’s particular illness, but the stress level she appeared to be under perhaps could have contributed.

I personally think it stinks to take such chances with people for a contest, especially after so many injuries and stressful conditions! They should have filled the space with the pros or interviews with the stars that would not be judged. I am losing respect for this show as it follows in the footsteps of marathon dancing and other contests that are now extinct. The fans will not think it is entertainment when someone is permanently injured or dies.
