‘NCIS’ season 13, episode 8 video: Jeanne’s return; Gibbs’ latest crisis
Tuesday night’s “NCIS” episode looks like it has wrapped up and vacuum-sealed a wide array of emotions, and they are waiting to just explode all over the place.
First, the promo below brings back memories of Jeanne Benoit, someone who longtime fans of the show remember very much. We feel almost like this part of the story is a reward for fans who remember that character and the dynamic between her and Tony. Will he be able to learn something about himself through these interactions? That’s what we are in many ways curious about. You always grow and adapt as a human being, and are influenced heavily be the circumstances you surround yourself with. Tony’s history with Jeanne created some very interesting circumstances, and they may continue to impact and influence how he does his job, even on an unconscious level.
As for the story of Gibbs, we’re mostly left right now to wonder how much the show wants to continue to make the poor guy suffer. Sure, it works in giving us a chance to see more of Jon Cryer as Dr. Taft, but if this guy is really in this poor of health, shouldn’t he consider taking a step away from the group? There could be an interesting storyline to come more out of him taking a back seat, and realizing in the process that it will be okay if he does. In between McGee and Tony and everyone else at the team, the NCIS will be fine if he takes some time away.
Stay tuned, as we will have further news on this episode leading up to it airing!

I think that the “very interesting circumstances” surrounding Tony and Jeanne not only influences how he does his job, but also his subsequent relationships with women. He even said to the relationship therapist in one episode that he was “going through a dry spell” and when she asked why, he said “real love, real bad breakup”. I don’t think – and this is only my opinion – he’s ever been able to fully commit to another woman because of the feelings he had for Jeanne and the way it ended. I’m hoping that, Jeanne returning, they’ll finally talk honestly to each other, begin to forgive each other, and Tony can finally move on from what might have been.

Gibbs stepping back would mean Tony’s going to be in charge again and that’s the last thing I personally want to see again. He doesn’t cut it in my opinion.
