NBC’s ‘The Voice’ rankings: Viktor Kiraly, Korin Bukowski, Jeffrey Austin lead Team Gwen
“The Voice” on Monday marks the beginning of the Live Playoffs, and for Team Gwen Stefani, we’d say that there is quite a bit of intrigue. You’ve got a teenage phenom, an established artist in Europe, and a woman with a voice bigger than probably anyone else in the competition right now. Could Gwen with this lineup have the winner of the season? We’re at least thinking that it is possible, even if she is still probably an underdog.
In looking at her five artists, we’re ranking them based off of performance quality, edit, and the history of similar artists on the show in the past.
5. Braiden Sunshine – Braiden’s a sweet kid, and it’s easy to like him based on the edit so far. However, we have yet to hear really anything from him so far that makes us believe that he can be a contender on this show right now. He may have been better off in a few years.
4. Regina Love – There’s no doubting that Regina’s voice is killer. What we wonder is this: Is she unique enough to stand out from so many other similar singers from “The Voice” seasons past? The thing that makes her stand out is her personality, so she has to emphasize that.
3. Jeffrey Austin – Jeffrey looks like a hybrid of Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran, but vocally sounds more like the latter. He has to continue to work on picking right songs and connecting to the audience. If he does that, we feel at least reasonably comfortable with his chances.
2. Korin Bukowski – Korin is one of the most unique singers left this season. In a sea of country vocalists and soulful singers, she has a unique, folksy style that should allow her to stand out. Add to that the fact that she is pretty easy to root for and already has a great body of work behind her.
1. Viktor Kiraly – We have to rank Viktor at the top right now if for no other reason than that he’s the most well-known of anyone on her team already, and maybe there hasn’t been enough time for people to become attached to other singers. He does have an immense amount of talent, but there are always several reasons why someone decides to cast a vote.
