‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 9 preview: Mark Gatiss writes ‘Sleep No More’
Tonight on “Doctor Who,” we saw a story that revolved around The Doctor being in a position where he had to stop the Zygons from basically conquering the world. It was certainly no small task, but something that he managed to succeed at eventually.
So where are we going moving into the next new episode? With “Sleep No More,” we’re going back to outer space, and a story that is being hyped up as one of the more terrifying ones we’ve seen in some time. Small children beware! The BBC has not really even offered up too much of a teaser about it just yet:
“This terrifying story is assembled from footage discovered in the wreckage of Le Verrier Space Station.”
From a production standpoint, what will be interesting to many is that this is an installment written by none other than Mark Gatiss, executive producer Steven Moffat’s collaborator on “Sherlock,” and a man also known for playing Mycroft on the show. This is not the first story that he has contributed to this universe, but we imagine for him there may be something rather thrilling about getting to be able to really sink your teeth into this sort of material that is so different than anything else that he does.
Given that there are also only four more episodes left this season, it’s fair to say that we should be on the lookout for many surprises … especially since Jenna Coleman will be departing at some point fairly soon.
