‘NCIS’ season 13 spoilers: Adam Campbell to return as young Ducky
The last time we saw Adam Campbell grace “NCIS,” it was back during the season 12 episode “So It Goes.” This was a chance to get to know a much younger version of David McCallum’s character, his friendships, and some of what led to him being the important member of the team that he is today.
If you enjoyed that episode, you should be most pleased to hear that Campbell is coming back! While we do not have a precise airdate yet, he will be returning at some before the end of the year. Showrunner Gary Glasberg confirmed this news to Entertainment Weekly, and passed along the following tease to go along with it:
“Christmas episodes have become an NCIS tradition and what could be better than spending the holidays with young Ducky in England circa 1972? This is a heartwarming story that brings gifted actor Adam Campbell back to NCIS and introduces us to Ducky’s complicated family. Prepare for a very emotional trip down Ducky’s memory lane.”
Campbell joins a long list of guest stars who are returning to “NCIS” before the end of the year, including Scottie Thompson, Jon Cryer, and Jamie Bamber. All of this is building towards the 300th episode of the show, which will be coming at some point in the new year. We know that there have been some ideas bandied around for what the special could be, but nothing has been remotely confirmed to date. Our hope is that we’ll get a chance to see multiple people from the early days of the show during it.
