‘Girl Meets World’ season 2, episode 23 preview: Meeting Maya’s father

At this point, we assume that the majority of “Girl Meets World” fans have questions about Maya’s father, whether it be who he is or why he chose to not be around for much of her life.

Based on the sneak peek below from Friday’s episode “Girl Meets the Forgiveness Project,” the first thing that we learn is that Maya’s dad may very well be Jax Teller from “Sons of Anarchy” … okay, we’re kidding. He does kind of look like him. Anyway, the reaction to seeing him is pretty extreme, as is Riley figuring out precisely what is going on. This is a character who everyone seems to immediately have an opinion on, and it is not too often on either this show or other shows, for that matter, where the arrival of someone into the universe generates an emotional impact quite as sweeping as this one.

So how is Maya going to be able to handle him around? This is one of many topics that we are probably going to see explored. With him being a potential focus of this episode, we would expect that much of the Riley – Lucas – Maya drama from “Girl Meets Texas” will be given a little bit more of a backseat treatment (though granted, it has to be this way anyway given that this episode was filmed before the three-part special, unless the writers really planned in advance).
