Donald Trump’s initial ‘Saturday Night Live’ plan was to do single sketch
We can at least still give you some other details right now via Trump himself, mostly because he interviews much in the same way someone eats at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Speaking to CNN in a new interview, the business mogul made it clear that the offer actually first came in about him doing only one sketch, but it was eventually changed into more:
“It actually started off as a skit. And I said, ‘All right, I’ll do it.’ And they took it up to Lorne Michaels, who’s an amazing guy, he’s run Saturday Night Live brilliantly for many years, and he’s a friend of mine. He said, ‘Well, wait a minute: Donald’s agreed to do this skit. Would he do the whole thing?’”
Trump has hosted “SNL” before, so him taking on the role is not really all that great of a surprise.
We’ve said this a few times already, but we do ultimately think that Trump’s hosting stint this weekend is not going to be what many think it will in advance. He’ll probably appear in a few sketches and draw mixed reaction, but we cannot really see anything that controversial happening. If we were him, our philosophy would be to show you have a little bit of a sense of humor, don’t try too hard to embarrass yourself, and then just move on to the next thing.
