NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 9 spoilers: Eliminated contestants will return in wildcard twist
Just in case you thought that a great contestant was eliminated on “The Voice” this season, there could still be a way to bring them back, after all! According to Yahoo!, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Pharrell Williams have each been granted an additional spot for a contestant in the next round. This brings the total to 24 people competing for 12 spots in the semifinals, and if we already made it to the top 20 we’d be incredibly annoyed. What was the point of all of this?
We’ll say that in the event that Andi & Alex, Krista Hughes, and Tim Atlas are three of the contestants coming back, we’ll think this is a solid twist … but that’s just because of bias. The reality here is that we had to really think about who we want to see back in the competition, and this worsens a major problem that the show already has: We don’t know the contestants.
Think about it like this for a minute. If you have been complaining about this person or that person not getting enough screen time, now they are going to get even less. This show is already notorious enough when it comes to how quickly contestants are sent home at this phase of the competition.
Also, we’re not sure any of them have a real shot at winning this. It feels like the finals could be a boys’ club this year with Barrett Baber, Viktor Kiraly, and Jordan Smith all standing there when you combine performances on the show with popularity away from it.

I would want Andi & Alex from Adam’s team (seems to me an obvious choice), Cole Criske from Blake’s (Blake screwed him over badly with song choice in the Battles and I would love to see what else he could do), Ellie Lawrence (she was sick during her knockout performance and was a fan fave), and either Celeste or Siahna (Celeste based on previous performance but Siahna based on total package)

Korin Bukowski is amazing so I’m not happy about this at all! But I agree the show repeats the same lines over and over. She’s not “weird” NBC she’s magical!

Andi and Alex, Ellie Lawrence, Nadjah Nicole and Cassandra Robertson please. Please, please, please!!!!
I disagree about the need to get to know the contestants better. The show tends to just repeat the same pr lines for the contestants anyway. Also, the Battle and Knockout rounds have many notoriously questionable subjective choices made “by the coaches.” They decide based on their “gut,” or “heart,” not on an actual comprehensive evaluation of the quality of the vocal performances. Adding four more singers to the live portion of the show should make it more interesting. I just hope the wildcard selections are based more on ability than on the desire to attract viewers simply based on having a certain “mix” of singers.
