‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3, episode 5 preview: A sneak peek all about Simmons

Is Tuesday night’s new episode of “Agents of SHIELD” set to be the best work that Elizabeth Henstridge has done on the show to date? We know that ABC is hyping this up as one of the most memorable performances we’ve seen from the actress on the show, and the stage is certainly set for some great things to take place.

The sneak peek below is a little bit of a window into what you can expect from this particularly-emotional story, as you see Jemma Simmons stranded on the alien world she was sent to by the monolith at the end of season 2. She spent months there trying to survive prior to being rescued by Fitz and SHIELD, and it is very clear that her feelings towards Fitz were in part what helped her to survive.

Still, it is very clear that there is something more to this story that we have not quite seen to date. Jemma went through something in this world that made her want to return, and the simple question is just what it was. Is it something that changed her as a person, or presented her with something that could help SHIELD? The one part of it that is rather confusing is how she has not been entirely forthcoming about anything that she has been through to date.

Hopefully, that is going to change, and this episode will give us a whole new insight into her character. Who knows? Maybe if she travels back, she can have someone there to lend a helping hand.
