‘Empire’ season 2, episode 6 preview: Lucious and Cookie team up in ‘A High Hope for a Low Heaven’
The first thing that we should point out about the next “Empire” episode is that you may be waiting for quite a while to see it come on the air. There is no new episode of the Fox series next week thanks to the World Series, and if there is a Game 7, the wait for “A High Hope for a Low Heaven” could be even longer.
For now, we’re putting the premiere date tentatively as Wednesday, November 4, and based on the synopsis below, we could see Lucious and Cookie actually come together to figure out if they can help out their children:
“Lucious and Cookie must put aside their differences and work together as parents to protect their family and keep them out of danger. Jamal does his best to get back in the studio and break away from being defined solely as a gay artist, while Hakeem struggles with how to feel and act like a man. Meanwhile, Andre works to shut down a division at Empire, until he discovers a disciple in the midst of Lucious’ Gutter Life records.”
The idea of Lucious and Cookie working together is for the most part glorious, and there is one reason in particular we’re stoked to see it: Terence Howard and Taraji P. Henson are fire together. Yet, they haven’t had a whole lot of screen time together, if for no other reason than that they’ve both had their own stuff to tackle. In putting their family first, they are at least improving their chances of having a good family. Unfortunately, that does not guarantee that they actually will.
