‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12, episode 5 preview: Is Arizona about to meet Callie’s girlfriend?

Just the title alone for next week’s new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” certainly carries a certain suggestion to it: “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?”. Many awkward moments could abound, and most of them have to deal with a large dinner party that is being hosted by Maggie, Amelia, and Meredith. This could be the sort of occasion that bands many of these people together, but also puts some in a compromising position as Callie’s new girlfriend could actually be introduced to some of the other doctors. while most of them will probably handle this just fine, will Arizona? Think of that as the “teaser” for this hour.

The synopsis below offers a little more information, though we’re not going to sit here and act like it is the most in-depth thing we’ve ever seen in the world:

“In the midst of the sisters’ dinner party, Maggie ditches her cooking duties to rush to the hospital. Meanwhile, April steps in to help cook as an attempt to avoid Jackson, and Arizona nervously waits to find out more about Callie’s new girlfriend.”

Yes, this episode will provide some awkwardness, but who knows? Hopefully there could also be an element or two of hope in here for Callie and Arizona’s future. Maybe that is wishful thinking on our part, but with all of the devastation that has befallen other characters in this world, we like to think that at least one or two of the most-beloved pairings will find a way to get together.

Update: Now that the episode’s over, we should mention the other twist here: The girlfriend just so happens to be someone tragically connected to Derek’s death. This makes matters all the harder for Meredith.
