‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 notes: On George R.R. Martin, Emilia Clarke, and a casting notice
There are a variety of little news items happening across the “Game of Thrones” universe, so much like an episode of the show bounces around to a variety of different locations, we’re going to bounce around here to some different story notes as well.
New George R.R. Martin adaptation – If you missed it a couple of days ago, it was announced that Cinemax has optioned the television rights to “Skin Trade,” a novella by the A Song of Ice and Fire author. Kalinda Vasquez, who has done some great work on “Once Upon a Time,” is currently working on a pilot. There’s no guarantee that the show will get made, but we’d consider this to be a mighty fine start for now.
Emilia Clarke’s Esquire honor – We figure that there are a variety of other places that you can view the photos (she was trending all morning on Twitter), but the actress behind the planet’s famous Khaleesi was named the magazine’s Sexiest Woman Alive in their most-recent issue. It’s an honor that shows the popularity of this show around the globe, and it also is especially interesting given that for the entire first season of the show, Clarke could go out on the street and nobody would recognize her outside of her wig.
Casting notice – This is fairly minor, but it’s still worth noting. This is a character teased by the folks over on Watchers on the Wall, and the name given to the character now is Captain of the Tower:
“The captain is in charge of the security of a castle. He’s an able soldier, physically fit, commanding and capable. He has a lot of dialogue in a scene where he is with his superiors and has to make a difficult decision.”
