‘Sherlock’ season 4 special: New trailer features Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and a hat
The “Sherlock” special is coming your way later this year, and there are many things to look forward to: Action, intrigue, mystery, and costumes. You can see all of them in the latest trailer HERE, which was shared by a brand-new YouTube account that is mysteriously hyping up the show’s future.
The trailer does feel very much like the BBC One / PBS series that you remember, with maybe one notable exception: Flashing back in time. This special is set during the real Victorian era that was the setting of the show, and there are a wide array of classic homages that you can see in here from start to finish, including a brilliant line from Watson to Sherlock about the hat itself. This special is not canon to anything else when it comes to the “Sherlock” show, but it is still a whole lot of fun and should be a nice one-off.
Unfortunately, there is no word just yet as to when this particular special is going to air … other than that it will be on at some point in December, more than likely Christmas in the UK. There’s no premiere date announced for either there or America, but our guess is that U.S. audiences will see this on PBS at some point either in late December or early January.
As for the rest of season 4, Benedict Cumbarbatch, Martin Freeman, and other cast members will return to chronicle other present-day stories at some point in 2016, when filming will commence. If the show wraps in the first half of the year, we imagine that we’ll get a chance to watch it in the second.
