‘Saturday Night Live’: Taran Killam set to play Donald Trump

SNL -Given that we are getting closer and closer to a Presidential election, this is the time where “Saturday Night Live” does have to make some enormous decisions when it comes to who they want to play some of the candidates. For example, Mitt Romney was played by Jason Sudeikis, and Jay Pharoah still has the part of President Obama after it was originally Fred Armisen in the role.

So who is set to be Donald Trump? As mentioned in the article’s title, it is none other than Taran Killam who landed the part. Deadline reports that multiple cast members tried out with their impersonations, but we’re not shocked to see that one of the show’s current standouts ultimately landed the part. The show’s announcer Darrell Hammond previously played the business mogul on the show, but since he is not an actual cast member, he was not considered. He will apparently continue to make cameos from time to time as Bill Clinton, given that Hillary (played by Kate McKinnon these days) is still in the thick of the campaign.

Of course, the show better hope that they don’t have to do too many sketches with Trump and Marco Rubio in the same place, given that Rubio was also played by Killam. We figure that they may find someone to play Carly Florina and also Jeb Bush, but for the time being, these three seem to be the only Republican Presidential candidates with any sort of shot of actually making it.

The new season of “SNL” is going to premiere on Saturday, October 3, with Miley Cyrus serving both as the host and the musical guest. Want to see the rest of the lineup right now? Then be sure to head over to the link here now.
