‘The X Factor’ UK: Monica Michael reacts to big moment
There were a number of big moments on “The X Factor” UK over the weekend, but one that has probably garnered the majority of the attention since the show is Monica Michael. She made her second consecutive appearance in the competition, but this time did generate a ton of attention after being somewhat under-the-radar until her exit in the Six Chair Challenge. There is a reason to be more optimistic this time around, whether it be the strength of her audition, or the fact that the producers showed enough confidence in her this time to give her a lengthier package.
One other thing that we like about Monica at the moment? That she is not speaking out using some of those cliche “this is my last chance” comments that you hear so many times in other places. As she tells Digital Spy, she will keep doing music regardless of whether or not she makes it far in the competition, and wouldn’t audition again just because she doesn’t want to be a broken record:
“I just kept saying, ‘How many times am I going to come back, come back, come back?’ It’s going to get boring at some point! I don’t know if I’ll try again for X Factor. I’ll never stop music – I mean, I write all the time, even if it’s just for therapy, just to write to get things off my chest to make me feel better. So music will always be a part of my life. I can never give up. But I don’t think I’ll come on X Factor again – people would be like, ‘Alright, we don’t care any more! Next!'”
While the girls category this year seems incredibly strong (especially compared to what we’ve seen in past years), Monica is not a lock to advance to the live shows; still, we do feel at least reasonably confident at the moment.
