‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 12 spoilers: New look at Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith!

If there was one singular way to describe the season 12 premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy,” it would be “an adjustment.” There are so many changes happening in the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, with it be new interns, new patients, potential new relationships, and in some cases a whole new matter of living.

For Meredith Grey, it is clear that her life has been turned upside down by the death of Derek, yet it goes on, and she would never want to be defined by something by her past. She has to move forward, and the new photo that we have from the premiere episode (airing September 24) shows her back doing some of what she does best: Trying her best to help people in need at the hospital. Is she handling some sort of light-switch crisis here Olivia Pope style? Probably a little too early to say that, but we’re glad that ABC at least decided to release a promotional photo of her back at work.

For at least the immediate future, most of Meredith’s story is going to be divided up into two different compartments.

1. Her home life – She will continue to raise her children with Derek, while at the same time grow accustomed to a very different environment with both Amelia and Maggie living with her. There’s almost a show just about these three functioning in the same house given all that they have been through.

2. Her professional life – We imagine that she will continue to strive for greatness on the job, and try to become more and more accomplished despite whatever roadblocks lie before her. She has always been ambitious, and the departure of Cristina and loss of Derek won’t change that.
