‘Legends of Tomorrow’ spoilers: Check out first look at Hawkman, Hawkgirl

Earlier this week, the news came out that DC’s “Legends of Tomorrow” had officially kicked off filming its upcoming first season, and now, The CW is giving us a gift: Getting a chance to see two of the most noteworthy characters in full costume.

The photo below is your first clear glimpse of Falk Hentschel and Ciara Renee as Hawkman and Hawkgirl, who will be first introduced in some way on “The Flash” and a crossover episode that is going to be airing later this year alongside “Arrow.” It will be the closest thing that “Legends of Tomorrow” has to a backdoor pilot, with the main difference being that the rest of the season is airing mere weeks later.

The thing we really love about these costumes first and foremost are the masks, which seem extremely well-done and a perfect TV twist on what the characters wear in the comics. While they are not extremely colorful, things rarely are on television out of fear of going too ridiculous.

As a matter of fact, the only real complaint that we have here is that Hawkman’s weapon of choice seems almost like a police bludgeon stick with a spiky ball thrown at the end of it. It’s probably not the most imposing thing that we’ve ever seen.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how the writers for the show touch on some of the major themes of these characters, which include reincarnation, destiny, romance, and much more. It’s one of the cooler stories that they’ve had a chance to adapt.
