‘Supernatural’ season 11: See Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, more in ‘new’ promotional poster

With the eleventh season of “Supernatural” premiering on The CW on Wednesday, October 7, the network is doing what they can to get the word out early. This of course includes promotional posters, and the latest one is below.

Let’s start with what we do like about this: The tagline of “between darkness and deliverance” is pretty cool, and the color scheme to us feels like the characters, even Crowley, are the light coming out of the darkness. This mysterious “darkness” is considered to be the Big Bad of season 11, and there is consistency here between the art and what is going on with the show. We don’t often get that.

Now, let’s talk about the saddening part of this: You’ve really seen these photos of Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Mark Sheppard before. These were a part of previous promotional art, which we understand would lead to a few cries here and there about how the network could have done more.

Why not give the cast a new photo shoot or something more creative? The likely answer here is money. CW shows have smaller budgets than some on the other broadcast networks, and if there is no major change in the cast, why invest the money in new promotional images? “Supernatural” seems to be especially subject to this. given that they have by and large the same crew of people who are a part of this year in and year out.

Let’s just hope that if you are disappointed, the quality of the show will help you forget all about it. After all, this is enough to make up for almost deficiency elsewhere.
