‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Could Oliver Queen have political ambitions?

One of the big stories that has been rumored for “Arrow” season 4 is the idea of Oliver Queen running for Mayor of Star City. It is something that there is groundwork for in the comics, and we already know that we are going to be someone showing up early on in the season (played by Jeri Ryan) who has connections both to his mother Moira Queen and also to politics.

However, good luck trying to get specifics on this particular story out of anyone involved in the show. For the time being, all executive producer Wendy Mericle will say on the subject is the following to TVLine:

“He will definitely be coming more to the fore as Oliver Queen and balancing that with his new role as the Green Arrow. He’ll be bringing some light to the city. I can’t say exactly how, but that’s his goal.”

Mericle also says that despite the best efforts of Black Canary, Diggle, and Speedy to improve the quality of life in the city, things have declined since the end of season 3. Thanks to that, we eventually do see Oliver and Felicity return, and the Arrow rises once again as the Green Arrow. This is certainly going to be needed given the presence of Damien Darhk, who will eventually become the Big Bad of at least the early going.

We’re going to have some other updates when it comes to season 4 at some point in the near future, so be on the lookout for some of that, as well.
