‘Ray Donovan’ season 3, episode 10 preview: When Katie Holmes, Hank Azaria square off

Who said that the past wouldn’t come back to bite Ray Donovan? On Sunday night’s new episode of the Showtime series, we had one of the larger surprises of the season so far, as Ray discovered that Ed Cochran (Hank Azaria) just so happens to be working now for a firm tied to the NFL deal that Ray has been working with the Finney family on. Maybe this is a tad coincidental, but it’s hard to really mind when you consider how this puts Ray in a gloriously awkward position.

Is Cochran going to completely blow up Ray’s spot within this family? It’s pretty clear that he has the motivation to after everything that happened to him, and his sudden reappearance at this point definitely creates problems … though it is always great for us to get people like Azaria, Katie Holmes, and Liev Schreiber in a single room together.

For those wondering, Azaria details further what lies ahead between these two in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

“It’s all under the surface, they’re mostly talking in a professional context, where neither one can kind of reveal the history they have with each other. So it’s all very under the surface. Is awkward the right word? Awkward to the point of dangerous. What are these people going to do to each other and when are they going to find the time to do it? They’re certainly not happy to run into each other. Although maybe Cochran is because he does see an opportunity to get even in some way.”
