‘The Amazing Race 27’ cast is here, includes paparazzi, super-fans, TMZ employees

The latest cast has arrived for “The Amazing Race 27,” and after looking at just the descriptions of some of the people taking part, our reaction is mixed. We’re get into some specifics in a moment, but for now let’s just go ahead and identify the eleven teams who are taking part this time in a race around the world starting on Friday, September 25 on CBS.

Kelsey & Joey – News reporters / co-workers from Santa Barbara.

Tiffany & Krista – Former New York Jets cheerleaders.

Justin & Diana – Engaged couple / “Amazing Race” super-fans.

Alex & Adam – Cousins.

Logan & Chris – Dating couple / paparazzi in Miami.

Cindy & Rick – Married dentist and OB/GYN from San Diego.

Denise & James – Mother / son team from Alabama.

Ernest and Jin – Brothers / dancers from Boston.

Kelly & Shevonne – Friends and TMZ co-workers.

Jazmine & Danielle – Friends from California.

Tanner & Josh – Best friends from Dallas.

Now, let’s get to reactions. Based on what we’ve seen so far Ernest & Jin seem pretty amazing, and are at least going to be bringing some entertainment value to the show. We’re glad to see a mother / son team like Denise & James back on the show, and for there to be at least some people in this group older than 30. CBS has increasingly as of late gotten bad when it comes to casting newbies who are older than 35; just look at this past season of “Big Brother.”

Are we a little shocked that we’ve got paparazzi people and TMZ employees in the cast? Sure. We know they’re very different jobs, but they’re involved in a similar industry. (We’ve seen at least a few episodes of the TMZ show and we recognize Shevonne; she seemed pretty entertaining there.)

Now, let’s take a minute and groan about the fact that we have another cheeleader team on here, and that there are so many teams from various parts of California. We get it that there’s a ton of people in the state and it’s easy casting, but more than a third of the cast hails from the state!
