‘Dancing with the Stars 21’ spoilers: Andy Grammer joins cast; partner Peta Murgatroyd injured

dwtsThe latest casting for “Dancing with the Stars” has been made public over the past 24 hours, but in this case it has been surrounded by plenty of headlines already.

First, the good news. Singer Andy Grammer is aboard! He’s sort of similar to Gavin DeGraw in that he has a similar voting block, and in his case he’s already performed on the show before. Given that he does have a history on stage, maybe he’ll have some rhythm! There’s a big difference between what he does and ballroom dancing, though, so go ahead and stop the petitions about him being a ringer already.

Now, the sad news. Grammer specifically asked for Peta Murgatroyd as his partner and she was more than happy to oblige; however, she discovered at one point preparing for this season that there were problems with her ankle, and as she tells People Magazine, she now has to be sidelined for the season as she recovers from surgery:

“I wanted to check it out properly and make sure I was good to go for the season … I Got my MRI results back and it was a really bad diagnosis. It showed I had 4 torn ligaments and a floating piece of bone at the back of my ankle. My doctor said I needed surgery and I knew I needed to put my health first if I want to keep dancing on the show into my 30s.”

Peta says that she is still going to do just about everything that she can in order to ensure that Andy and his new partner are prepared for the new season, and maybe this bit of extra instruction could even help him!

The rest of the “Dancing with the Stars” cast should be unveiled on “Good Morning America” September 2, but you can head over here if you want to read more about them now! Also, you can sign up here to get some other TV updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
