‘The X Factor’ UK reportedly has Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini now as executive producer
If there was a way to make Cheryl Fernandez-Virsini even more invested in making “The X Factor” a hit, Simon Cowell and the production company have found a way to do it. For the first time, the former Girls Aloud singer has been named an executive producer alongside Cowell on the series. She is the only other judge with this title, and now has the ability to get more involved in the show’s creative and come up with new ideas. Of course, this also means that she has more of a reason long-term to stick with it.
This news first came out during an interview Cheryl gave to the Daily Star, where she discussed a little more at length some of what her new duties entailed:
“This year Simon wanted me more involved in the decision making. He wanted to know my ideas, what I thought, who I thought would be good. I get excited and blurt things out and then he’ll say ‘That’s actually a really good idea’ … We have creative moments together. We work really well off camera, just him and me in a meeting.”
This is great news for the series, especially since you’re talking about a show that is more than a decade old at this point. You want to get new, creative ideas from people who are popular, and Cheryl is someone who has been involved with the show for years. She’s not guaranteed to have all of the answers, but she can guide the creative team down a path to some potentially good ideas.
Given that this show has seen ratings decreases the past few years, it needs all of the help that it can get and someone like Cheryl could breathe some life into it, making it exciting once again.
