‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: Jerome, Tigress, and more populate latest promo

“Gotham” really wants you to know that there are a ton of villains appearing in the upcoming second season. That is what their latest promo is all about!

There seems to be two separate slogans that are being used right now to promote the series. The first one is “villains rising,” which is a nice bit of commentary about just how many evil-doers are out there. Jerome a.k.a. the Joker (at least potentially) is one of them, the Riddler is another, and of course we also have Penguin. This season is going to introduce Tigress for the first time, and there are some bona fide villains-in-training out there such as Catwoman and Poison Ivy.

As for the other slogan, it is “a new day” … and it is certainly much more oxymoronic given that there has not really been a “new day” in Gotham for quite a long time. Anytime that someone has hope that things are going to change in the city, someone else surfaces to kick up dust and make their mark in the city. That’s why the GCPD ultimately remains so busy week in and week out.

The promo below is certainly cool, but we do still have our concerns about knowing anything about The Joker this early in the series. This is why we are still hoping that Jerome is more or less some sort of a decoy. Note that nobody has ever really said that he is “officially” the Crown Prince of Crime. We’d much rather see three or four different characters across the course of the series who could become the Joker, only for none of them to actually inherit that title. Part of the fun of the villain in the Batman world is that so little is actually confirmed about his backstory.
