‘Game of Thrones’ season 6 spoilers: More on characters coming together
You’re not going to get any specifics from anyone in regards to what story points for season 6 are going to; the comments from director Jeremy Podeswa’s latest interview with Deadline are some of the closest we’ve come to that, and they are still very generic and not entirely revealing about any one thing:
“I think the way the characters converge is something that started last season, where characters who have never met before were suddenly meeting, and the worlds are coming together, and the world is getting a little smaller in a way. That happens more and more this season. That becomes very exciting. One thing I can say about the first two episodes of the season is that there’s not a lot of laying pipe or laying track. We just get right into the story and it’s very propulsive narratively—the whole season is—and it’s heading towards a destination that is very exciting.”
This strategy of not “laying pipe” is something that we have seen in some ways both of the last two seasons, though we would say season 4 did it best with opening with some big episodes, in particular its second installment “The Lion and the Rose.”
We don’t have specific expectations for this show. All we want to see are some more opportunities for familiar faces to spend time together, and for it to build towards an epic conclusion that makes sense for this world.
