‘Doctor Who’ season 9: Hayley Atwell has fun with internet response over comments

Doctor Who -Yes, this IS how the internet works. You make one quick comment about “Doctor Who” in a Twitter Q&A with fans, and then all of a sudden everyone is writing about it.

To an extent, we do understand why when it comes to Hayley Atwell and “Doctor Who.” They are both beloved, and there has already been a great deal of discourse across the internet about whether or not we should have a female Doctor at some point in the future. Many appear to be keen on the idea, while there are also others who have come out in support of the role only being played by a man. It’s a long-polarizing position, and we do not see it suddenly becoming any less polarizing in the near future.

All we know is that Atwell would be happy to play the role if given the chance.

The rumors first started with the comment below; sure, you can be a jerk about her terminology if you really want to, but her excitement is what has us smiling.

After seeing the internet run wild with the news, she came back on Wednesday with what is ultimately commentary on all of the commentary.

While we’d be down for this, it is not something logistically we see happening anytime soon. For one, we don’t know how long Peter Capaldi continues to want to be The Doctor on the show, and to go along with that, Atwell already has a great job of Marvel’s “Agent Carter.” Both shows require such a commitment that it would be hard to do both, even if they do tend to film at different times of the year.

Who knows? Maybe if the opening is there in a few years and she is interested, something could happen. Our opinion remains the same that we want the best Doctor, and it does not matter so much their gender or race. We just want who blows the producers away the most in the audition, and they feel like they can write for.
