‘Saturday Night Live’: Tracy Morgan, Amy Schumer react to hosting news

SNL -On Monday, the glorious news was made official that “Saturday Night Live” has a great lineup in store for the first three episodes of the season. Miley Cyrus has the October 3 premiere, and then after that you’ve got appearances from Amy Schumer on October 10 and then Tracy Morgan on the 17th.

Sure, Cyrus is probably thrilled to get the premiere episode this year, and she’s been a very good host in the past. This story is still more about the other two hosts, given that they are the ones who really have something enormous to cherish here that is completely new. For Schumer, this is a chance to host a show that she has wanted to be a part of for a long time. There’s also an interesting connection here between her and Pete Davidson; the two are good friends, and it was after he met Bill Hader on the set of “Trainwreck” that the wheels were put in motion for him to get an audition with Lorne Michaels. Davidson was one of the standout players of this past season of “SNL.”

As for Morgan, it’s really just all about the comeback. After suffering severe injuries and losing his friend James McNair in an automobile accident in 2014, it was not clear he was ever going to work in comedy again. This marks his first real shot at a huge comeback, and it is fair to say that he’s excited to return home to a place that is one of his biggest claims to fame.

Of course, we’ll be back to cover these episodes so much more later this fall.
